What Now? Hoopla Troupla

Hoopla Troupla are a performance group of Contemporary Circus Arts, Entertainment and Education based in Galway. Formed in the tail end of winter 2015, new friends braving the elements for a weekly outdoor fire practice. Remembering how the wind makes fire howl louder. Kevlar soaked in parafin setting the night sky alight. The practices became social and ideas flowed. Solo shows becoming duos,a trios and multi-person concepts.

Recent shows include Galway Zombie Walk in Aid of Jigsaw, and a circus workshop for kids as part of An Áit Eile’s contribution to Our Place @ Merlin Woods’. Currently Hoopla Troupla are settling in for winter, looking for somewhere cosy to evolve some ideas and practice.

Skills/activities include: Fire Dancing/Spinning, Stilt Walking, Juggling, Hula Hooping, Poi, Gymnastic Ribbons, Costumes, Circus Workshops, Prop-making.

For What Now? Hoopla Troupla will be sending two of their bouncy stilt walkers and two of their hula hoopers for a walk up Shop Street and back to Áras na nGael. Keep an eye out for them before 1pm on Saturday. Then at 7.30pm they’ll be putting on a fireshow in Áras na nGael’s outdoor area.
