Foyers that resemble exhibition halls, corridors that function as intimate galleries, and rooms where you won’t have to dream of original artworks, because they hang on the walls. This trend, showing how different artistic disciplines have found new spaces beyond museums, is an extra that enhances the stay in these art-rich hotels where architecture, design, and contemporary creation coexist naturally with the traveler’s experience.
1. Almanac Barcelona
When interior designer Jaime Beriestain conceived the rooms and suites of Almanac Barcelona, each one was clad in moiré murals, wooden slats, marbles, and other materials that enriched every space. That coherent and harmonious interior design, which aimed to respect the building’s architecture, seemed sufficient, but the boutique hotel wanted to go a little further and become a living art gallery.
Under the banner Almanac Goes Art, the seventh-floor suites have been interpreted by six contemporary artists: Alex Voinea, Mariona Espinet, Catherine Parra, Vasty, Gastón Lisak, and Jimmy Millán. Hospitality spaces where creativity has not only been welcomed but has transformed each stay into a work in itself, bearing the stamp and identity of each artist. Six creative universes in which you sleep surrounded by artworks that arrive with enriching experiences, such as visiting their studios, rediscovering the city through their cultural itineraries, and, in short, connecting with the local art scene.
