When asked by the stars of The Gentlemen (available now on Netflix) what their favourite moments from filming the second season were, they split into two camps: spending a month in Italy along the shores of the Lake Maggiore (or Lago Maggiore in Italian); or at Ashcombe Estate, the estate that Guy Ritchie, the series’ creator, owns in Wiltshire.
Both, undoubtedly, are the most spectacular new locations among the eight episodes that make up the series’ second season. In Italy they shot the palace of the new most important character in this installment: the Countess Isabella Savanza of Parma, or as everyone knows her, Bella (portrayed by Italian actress Benedetta Porcaroli), with whom the lead, The Duke, Eddie (Theo James), feels an immediate attraction since they meet during a hunting session on his estate, Halstead Manor.
That hunting session, following all the traditions of the British upper class, was shot precisely on the lands that Guy Ritchie owns in the English countryside, where he occasionally organizes such outings for friends and colleagues.
The Gentlemen, the series, premiered in 2024, and for Ritchie it was his first foray into episodic television. The story originated, in part, from his own feature film with the same title released in 2019 and, like the latter, followed the cannabis mafia bosses in the United Kingdom in an aristocratic setting.
