MadHorror: Madrid Becomes the Capital of Horror

5 October 2026

No one would have thought that Madrid would become a benchmark for Halloween culture, but the debut of the inaugural edition of MadHorror has put it in the spotlight for horror enthusiasts. From October 30 to November 2, Ifema Madrid will host the first major international festival devoted entirely to the genre and will become an immersive, terrifying universe capable of captivating any visitor.

MadHorror primarily revolves around those films, series, and stories that form part of the horror tradition, so beyond easy scares or fear experiences, the festival is a love letter to those names that have already become cultural symbols. It can be seen in the programmed exhibitions, such as the one on Chicho Ibáñez Serrador: his favorite terrors, with pieces and objects from the director’s career; 40 years of Aliens, with objects from one of cinema’s most important sagas; the The Paul Naschy Show: King of Fantaterror, with some posters and elements from his films; The Walking Dead: from page to zombie apocalypse, with some pages from the horror comic that changed everything; and Brujas: aquelarre ilustrado, which brings together 30 artists to pay homage to the genre’s most transcendent character.

MadHorror acoge la exposición ‘40 años de Aliens’.

Aunque el grueso del festival sea el cine, aquellos títulos que cambiaron el imaginario del terror, el recinto acoge otras activaciones que convierten el espacio en una experiencia espeluznante. No faltarán, lógicamente, the Terror Tunnels: La Rosa Negra’s terror tunnel with a story of corpses, blood and legends not recommended for minors; and the two modalities of Obake Yashiki, the Japanese term used for Japanese haunted houses in which the experience relies on psychological horror. MadHorror will also feature several gaming activities, including video games and board games, cosplay and the Mad Freak Lounge area, which brings together the most outrageous and strange horror. Of course, on Halloween day there will be a party, a Zombie Party where the great “deceased” figures of pop will be heard.
