10 Castles for Halloween: Legends, Medieval Towers, and Four-Poster Rooms

25 October 2026

The most mysterious night of the year invites us to seek settings worthy of the stories told in the dark. On Halloween, DiscoverCars.com has selected ten historic castles in Europe where you can stay for the weekend from October 30 to November 1, 2026. The selection, with prices ranging from €230 for two nights up to €2,720, includes four Spanish fortresses and six more scattered across Ireland, Switzerland, Poland, Germany, and England.

The proposal, prepared by the car rental comparison site, takes into account the architecture – neo-Gothic or authentically medieval – the cost of lodging for two people, the price of renting a vehicle, and the availability of parking.

1. Arteaga Castle, Basque Country

About 45 minutes from Bilbao, in Gautegiz Arteaga, Arteaga Castle stands out for its neo-Gothic architecture and its ornate towers. The property allows guests to sleep in unique rooms located in the towers and to enjoy a private terrace accessible via a spiral staircase. Its subterranean wine cellar adds another incentive for those who wish to pair the getaway with a glass of wine.

Bilbao is close enough to spend a few hours wandering its historic center and discovering Basque gastronomy. Two nights over the Halloween weekend cost €342. The car rental price is around €85 and the hotel provides free parking.
