Playa de Poo (concejo de Llanes, Asturias) is an authentic earthly paradise, so it is no surprise that thanks to you, the readers, it has reached the first position in our Condé Nast Traveler Award for the Best Beach in Spain 2026. Playa de Poo is located at the end of a ria surrounded by cliffs, has a funnel shape and a very special phenomenon occurs there. When the tide rises, the water covers the white sands forming a large beach of calm, shallow waters, ideal for bathers of all ages. There are those who say that it is a true natural saltwater pool. At low tide, the landscape changes radically and one can walk between the cliffs along a dreamlike path toward the sea.
It is framed within the Protected Landscape zone of the Eastern Asturian Coast, also known as the Green Coast, as it is home to seabirds, multiple species of vegetation and even prehistoric sites.

It belongs to the locality of Poo, only 3 minutes by car and 7 on foot, about 4 km from Llanes. It stretches 150 meters in length and 100 meters in width (which vary greatly depending on the tide), it is easy to access, with parking, showers, lifeguard service and nearby restaurants. We recommend spending a full day there, in order to be able to appreciate all its tidal changes, light and color.
