HOW TO GET THERE
To reach the capital, there are several options depending on your location. The most common from abroad is by plane. Spanish citizens with ordinary passports may travel to China visa-free for tourism for up to 30 days, in accordance with the policy in effect until December 31, 2026. For longer stays or trips with other purposes, it is necessary to check visa requirements. It has two international airports, with the Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) being the largest and most used. From any terminal, you can take a taxi, bus, or subway to reach the city center. If you are not yet familiar with the country, its currency, or AliPay, we recommend taking a taxi; it is the simplest option.
Look for signs or follow other passengers heading to a taxi. When you reach the line, wait your turn where you will be assigned one based on availability. Once you’re inside, tell the driver your destination; it helps to have the address or the name of the place written in Mandarin. In Beijing, taxis typically use meters to calculate the fare, so make sure it is turned on. The price will vary according to distance and traffic. The airport is approximately 35 kilometers from the center, though the journey will take about an hour, so it can range from 200-300 yuan or more, depending on circumstances. Bring cash, which you can withdraw at the ATM in the airport or bring from Spain (though not ideal), since taxis do not accept credit cards.
If you are already in China, you can easily reach the country’s capital by high-speed train, purchasing the ticket on Trip.com.
