Imagine Yourself Traveling in 2027? Discover Your Travel Trend

19 October 2026

The world of travel never stops evolving, and as we set our sights on 2027, the trends are incredibly inspiring. There are islands where you feel like the first person to arrive, the lotus-eaters of The Odyssey waiting on blue shores, and new ways to express love through travel with a dash of swagger. Skyscanner’s own word.

The following seven trends are out there, but like the island’s treasure, you’ll have to reach your own. The 28,000 travelers from all over the world surveyed by Skyscanner, together with supplementary data from trusted partners such as TikTok, ClassPass, Wise, Universal Music Group for Brands, and AllTrails, confirm why 2027 is the year for travelers with heroic ambitions, the new keepsake, but above all, disconnecting as a way to embrace a journey more real than ever.

What is your trend for 2027?

We live in a world where we are used to going from point A to point B without pausing to consider what happens in between. Stop, pause, listen to what people and destinations have to tell us.

Because even the neighborhood baker knows that fully unplugging will be more necessary than ever in 2027, and the result is a digital-detox journey as the leading trend emerging. One in four travelers agrees that we need to log off to reconnect with the world through journeys to remote destinations where detox is possible, such as Boa Vista Island (+322% year-over-year) and Podgorica (+162% year-over-year), some of the names experiencing the greatest growth this year.
