Spring has arrived in the city, and you can’t imagine how well it suits Salts. It could easily be the original lyrics to the famous song by Delafé y las Flores Azules, but it’s simply an improvised rhyme for that Barcelona terrace that, with the arrival of warm weather, draws hundreds of eyes hungry for views.
And the location deserves, at least, a toast: in the background, the skyline of the Catalan capital, which becomes magnetic at sunset; at your feet, the imposing Montjuïc diving pool, inaugurated in 1929 and, subsequently, refurbished to host diving and water polo events of the 1992 Olympic Games.
The Pop Stars’ Pool
The postcard offered by the Montjuïc pool is so spectacular that even the one and only Dua Lipa chose this location to shoot the music video for Illusion –a track included on her latest album, Radical Optimism–, putting both the municipal pool and the beach bar on the tourist map.
Aunque para muchos melómanos esos tres minutos de increíbles piruetas desde el trampolín y coreografías de natación sincronizada al ritmo de la voz de Dua Lipa supusieron el descubrimiento de este enclave, lo cierto es que su vínculo con el pop viene de lejos: en 2003, Kylie Minogue convirtió estas coordenadas en el set de rodaje de su éxito ‘Slow’.
Las similitudes –de los estilismos de las estrellas del pop a los encuadres– no son precisamente casuales, sino más bien todo un tributo de la artista británica a Kylie Minogue. De hecho, la propia Dua Lipa ha reconocido en más de una ocasión su admiración por ella, señalando Slow como uno de sus videoclips favoritos. Así lo afirmó en una entrevista concedida a British GQ en 2020.
