Our country needed, and as soon as possible, a competition that would reward the best cheesecake in Spain. In any restaurant, whatever its kind (it doesn’t matter if it has a Michelin star or a humble neighborhood bar), the cheesecake, the dessert beloved by many, is a staple on the menu. Therefore, this year the 1st Spain Cheesecake Championship was held, organized by Fenicia Marketing Gourmet in collaboration with Hostelería de España and sponsored by Glovo, which announced its winner just a few hours ago. A total of 76 cheesecakes were judged, but only 15 reached the final held in Madrid.
Our winner is the Tres Quesos cheesecake from Muu Cheesecakes, a Gijón-based take-away bakery whose main inspiration is the New York–style cheesecake that opted for a classic version of the dessert composed of three types of cheeses. Against other proposals with more unexpected ingredients, the Tres Quesos won over the jury with its creaminess and flawless execution. It demonstrated that in simplicity, good raw materials and impeccable technique lie the true essence of the cheesecake.
Although Muu opened its doors just two years ago, the faces behind the bakery boast more than 15 years of perfecting their cheesecake recipe at the VACVNO burger joint and, previously, at Big Joe Café. Their Pría cheesecake, featuring Pría cheese from Asturias and caramel, was the first cheesecake to appear on VACVNO’s dessert menu back in 2019, a departure from what we typically understand as a traditional cheesecake. They had already won the Best Burger in Asturias award in 2025, so this second accolade serves to recognize the quality of Muu’s proposal and Diego, the expert pastry chef who leads it, and Sonia, their fairy godmother throughout this journey.
