What makes these European cities qualify as the most livable, attractive and increasingly prosperous? From that question emerged the annual Europe’s Best Cities report, which evaluates more than 180 cities —with populations over 500,000 inhabitants— based on the latest performance indicators and on the opinions of residents and visitors.
The ranking, published earlier this month, reveals which are the 100 best cities in Europe, and Barcelona and Madrid have cracked the top ten. While the two Spanish cities occupy fifth and sixth positions on the list, the podium is led by: London, which again takes the first place for the fourth consecutive year; Paris and Berlin.
Celebrating its fourth edition, Best Cities asserts that this is the most ambitious edition to date. To compile it, the consultancy Resonance Consultancy has collaborated with the international research firm Ipsos, which has collected and analyzed perception data drawn from surveys of 5,000 residents from 10 European countries.
In the analysis, equal weight was given to each country within the overall data set. The survey was designed to identify the locations that the 5,000 participants would prefer to live in, visit or work.
Data generated by users on online platforms such as Google, Reddit, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok have also been crucial in evaluating the place with respect to experiential factors.
