‘Las Noches del Patrimonio’ is back, a milestone for lovers of historic buildings and culture. The festival’s ninth edition, which begins on September 11, will once again offer nocturnal tours, concerts, contemporary dance performances, workshops and activities for all audiences. The Group of Historic Cities of Spain (GCPHE) is preparing to celebrate a new edition of ‘Las Noches de Patrimonio’, which in 2026 will take place on 11 and 12 September — 18 and 19 September in San Cristóbal de La Laguna. In total, 500 free cultural activities are planned across the 15 Spanish cities inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Among them are Ávila, Mérida, Cuenca, Salamanca, Tarragona… In the words of the president of the GCPHE, Rubén Viñuales: “’Las Noches del Patrimonio’ are an invitation for both visitors and our own residents. The essence of this initiative is, precisely, to turn these extraordinary spaces into places of gathering for the citizenry.”
What are the new features this year? This new edition will revolve around three main axes: Open Heritage, which will allow visiting historic spaces at night; Live Heritage, which will offer local cultural proposals in each city; and finally, Heritage Stage, which will turn heritage enclaves into venues for performing arts and contemporary creation. The programming, as always, will include nocturnal openings of historic spaces, contemporary dance performances, concerts, workshops,
theater, exhibitions and participatory activities, among others.
Moreover, the 2026 edition marks the start of a new phase for the project. After eight years celebrated under the name of ‘La Noche del Patrimonio’, the initiative is renamed ‘Las Noches del Patrimonio’, expanding its reach to two weekends and adapting to the needs of each city. Thus, activities will take place on September 11 and 12 in Alcalá de Henares, Ávila, Baeza, Cáceres, Córdoba, Cuenca, Ibiza/Eivissa, Mérida, Salamanca, Santiago de Compostela, Segovia, Tarragona, Toledo and Úbeda. San Cristóbal de La Laguna will stage its programming on September 18 and 19.
