There are many maps, but few are able to awaken the senses like the one created by ANNUA HOTELS in Mallorca: we could speak of Banyalbufar, that place where the Serra de Tramuntana blends with the Mediterranean and at the coordinates where Gran Hotel Margalida springs forth. Or discover the secrets that whisper from tapestries of lavender, olive trees and vineyards of Sencelles, the rural heart where Son Xotano is born.
Two accommodations, or two shortcuts to the essence of Mallorca through a stay that becomes a journey through new sensations and personal identities worthy of recognition: Gran Hotel Margalida has been nominated for the 2026 Hotel&Mantel Awards in the category “Best Interior Design,” thanks to the savoir-faire of interior designer Virginia Nieto; while Son Xotano boasts a nomination for “Best Team.”
We immerse ourselves in a new landscape of Mallorca where sight, taste, touch, hearing, and smell conspire to forge new ways of losing oneself and reconnecting with what is essential.
ANNUA HOTELS: How many senses do you want?
“The first time I entered the building, still under construction, I leaned out of one of the windows and the sea occupied everything. It was late afternoon and the light came in so golden that it tinted the walls yellow. I remember thinking: there it is, here is the hotel and this color is the base of it all,” recalls interior designer Virginia Nieto, who collaborated with architects Álvaro Onieva and MR Studio when we asked her about Gran Hotel Margalida, nominated for “Best Interior Design” in the Hotel&Mantel 2026 Awards of Condé Nast Traveler.

“That yellow color was sought for months until we created it exclusively for Margalida, and today it is on the tiles of the bar, in the reception, in the bathrooms which are the key to everything, and in every corner. I wanted anyone arriving to feel the same as I did that day: that they were at home, looking at the sea, with no desire to leave,” she adds.
